Acceptable Use Policy
The standards we expect from every church and user on Ekklesia — so the platform stays safe and trustworthy for everyone.

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) forms part of the Ekklesia Terms of Service and sets out the standards we require all users to follow when using the Ekklesia platform. Violation of this policy may result in account suspension or termination.
1. Purpose
Ekklesia is designed to help church communities manage their administration and engage their congregations. This policy exists to ensure the platform is used responsibly, ethically, and in ways that respect the rights and safety of all users.
2. Prohibited Uses
Prohibited activities
- Using the platform for illegal activities or in violation of any applicable law.
- Uploading, storing, or distributing malware, viruses, or any malicious code.
- Attempting to gain unauthorised access to any account, system, or network.
- Circumventing or disabling authentication, access controls, or security features.
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to extract the platform's source code.
- Using automated bots, scrapers, or crawlers without express written permission.
- Harvesting or collecting personal data from the platform without authorisation.
Communication standards
- Sending unsolicited bulk messages, spam, or commercial communications to members.
- Distributing harassing, abusive, defamatory, or discriminatory content.
- Impersonating any person, organisation, or Ekklesia staff.
- Sending communications that violate the privacy or rights of any individual.
Data handling
- Using church member data for purposes other than legitimate church administration.
- Sharing member data with third parties without appropriate consent.
- Storing sensitive data (e.g. payment card information, passwords) in free-text fields.
- Exporting or transferring data in a way that violates our Privacy Policy or applicable data protection law.
Platform integrity
- Attempting to overload, disrupt, or degrade the performance of the platform (DoS/DDoS).
- Introducing code or configurations that could harm other users or the platform.
- Using the platform to host or distribute content that infringes intellectual property rights.
- Sharing account credentials with persons outside your organisation.
3. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any activity that may violate this policy, please report it to us at hello@ekklesia.app. We investigate all reports and take appropriate action, which may include account suspension, termination, or referral to law enforcement.
4. Consequences of Violation
Violation of this Acceptable Use Policy may result in one or more of the following:
- Immediate suspension of account access pending investigation.
- Permanent termination of account without refund.
- Removal of offending content or data.
- Notification to relevant regulatory or law enforcement authorities.
- Civil or criminal legal proceedings where applicable.
5. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to registered users at least 14 days before they take effect. The current version is always available at ekklesia.app/acceptable-use.
